Skylon Tower

See the Falls from Above

The Skylon Tower is one of Niagara’s most recognizable landmarks, rising high above the Falls and offering a completely different way to experience them.

Standing at 770 feet (234.7 metres), it gives you a true bird’s-eye view of the Niagara River, the Falls, and the surrounding area.

A Bit of Niagara History

The Skylon Tower opened in 1965, making it one of the earlier major attractions in Niagara Falls.

It was built more than a decade before the CN Tower, and while it’s shorter, both towers share some similarities, including observation decks and revolving restaurants.

Even today, the Skylon remains one of the most popular ways to see Niagara from above.

What It’s Like at the Top

Your visit to the Skylon Tower starts before you even reach the top.

You’ll ride up in one of the famous “Yellow Bug” elevators, which travel along the outside of the tower and reach the top in just 52 seconds. As you rise, the view opens up quickly, giving you a preview of what’s waiting above.

At the top, you’ll have access to both indoor and outdoor observation areas, so you can enjoy the view in any weather. From here, you can look down at the Falls, watch the Niagara River split around Goat Island, and follow it as it rushes over both the American and Canadian Falls.

On especially clear days, you may even be able to see the skyline of Toronto across Lake Ontario in the distance. It doesn’t happen often, but when it does, it’s something people don’t forget.

It’s one of the best photo opportunities in Niagara, and one of the easiest ways to take in the full scale of the landscape.

More Than Just a View

The Skylon Tower isn’t just about the observation deck.

At the top, it’s home to a revolving restaurant, where the dining room slowly turns as you eat, giving you constantly changing views of the Falls and surrounding area.

Inside the tower, you’ll also find gift shops, an arcade, and the Niagara Daredevil Exhibit, which highlights some of the incredible (and sometimes unbelievable) stories of people who challenged the Falls over the years.

It’s a full experience, whether you’re going up for the view, the meal, or just to explore what’s inside.

Why We Stop Here on Our Tour

Seeing the Falls from ground level is one thing — but seeing them from above gives you a completely different perspective.

We stop here because it allows you to take in the full layout of the river, the Falls, and the surrounding landscape in a way you simply can’t from below.

It’s also an easy, accessible experience that adds variety to the day and gives you one of Niagara’s best panoramic views.

Included in Your Tour

A stop at the Skylon Tower is included in your $77 + tax Chariots of Fire Niagara Falls day tour.

Access to the tower itself is part of the experience, with optional upgrades available if you’d like to visit the observation deck.
