Welcome to the Virtual Tour

If you want to learn more about what you will experience on our Toronto to Niagara tour, please explore our "Virtual Tour". This a good place to see pictures and get more information about the people and places that you will hear about and visit on our tour, especially those that are no longer around.

As we depart from Toronto, we drive past the CN Tower. The CN stands for Canadian National.   The CN Tower was built in 1976 by Canadian National to demonstrate the strength of Canadian industry by building the tallest tower in the world. On February 6, 1973, ground breaking for the tower took place.  The tower took 40 months to build, and opened to the public on June 26, 1976.

Another interesting building that we pass on the way out of Toronto is the Roger’s Center, formerly the Skydome.

The Skydome opened on June 3, 1989, and was renamed Rogers Centre on February 2, 2005.  The Roger’s Center’s claim to fame is its fully retractable roof. This was the worl’d first fully retractable roof.  Other stadiums had partially retractable roofs.  It takes 20 minutes for the 3 panels to move into position.

The Fairmont Royal York Hotel opened on June 11, 1929.  A former railway hotel, The Royal York was built by the Canadian Pacific Railway, and is located directly across Front Street from Union Station.

Toronto's current Union Station was constructed between 1914-1920 by the Toronto Terminals Railway. It was officially opened to the public on August 6, 1927. Union Station has been designated a National Historic Site of Canada since 1975, and a Heritage Railway Station since 1989.

The Air Canada Centre is home to the Toronto Maple Leafs hockey club, Toronto Raptors basketball club, and the Toronto Rock lacrosse team. The Air Canada Centre hosted its first hockey game two years after the project broke ground in February 1999. Since then the Air Canada Centre has hosted thousands of events including concerts, sporting events, family shows, festivals, banquets, receptions, trade-shows, and business meetings.
